Site: Otor Papeterie de Rouen

Investment: anaerobic treatment station

Start-up: April 2003

The extension of the water-treatment plant, operational since 23rd April 2003, includes a complete anaerobic treatment facility combined with the existing aerobic treatment system. After passing through a series of clarifloculators (primary decanters), the process return water now arrives in a digester in which the wastewater is treated anaerobically, converting the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) into biogas, mainly consisting of methane. The gas is then flared. The water is transferred to an aerobic tank and then into an activated sludge aeration lagoon, after which it is sent to a clarifier (secondary decanter) before being discharged into the Seine River.
