Otor places considerable importance on finding new packaging concepts and optimising industrial manufacturing processes.
Research is mainly aimed at:
- making packaging lighter,
- reducing surface areas
- adding user functionality: improving productivity in terms of packaging erection, highlighting of products, simplified handling (easy to carry, easy to open, easy to flatten, etc.)
Each of the 6 board mills has a design office equipped with:
- IT tools: CAD and packaging optimisation software
- a CAD-controlled cutting table to make full-scale test specimens,
- a test laboratory.
The different developments are coordinated by the Marketing and Development service at Otor's head office.
